Architect/Engineer Call-Out for Grief Series

Architect/Engineer for Part 4 of The Grief Series

Closes 15th January 2013

Paid (£1000-£2000 dependent on skills/experience) flat fee

Travel expenses will also be provided.

Ellie Harrison is about to begin work developing the first phase of part 4 of her body of work The Grief Series, and is looking for collaborators with experience of working in Architecture and Engineering. You can find out more about The Grief Series at www.griefseries.co.uk

The successful applicant will work collaboratively with a team of performance makers and artists working in sculpture and installation to design and build an interactive installation for public spaces and passing audiences.  The piece will take an irreverent and playful look at Anger in both its passive aggressive and more direct forms of expression.

The Engineer/Architect will be responsible for collaboratively designing and building a structure which is both visually striking and structurally durable. You would also be responsible, along with the Producers and Production Managers to ensure the structure is fully risk assessed and fit for purpose.

This may mean adapting existing structures such as a shipping container.

The collaboration will take place for 10 days between February and April, culminating in a week long showing in Leeds City Centre. These performances will form part of Transform: My Leeds, My City produced by the West Yorkshire Playhouse

Please send a CV, link to examples of your work and a covering letter to [email protected] The closing date for applications is midnight on the 15th January 2013. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview in Leeds on 22nd January 2013.

As the work will respond to the theme of Transform: My Leeds, My City, we particularly welcome applications from artists living and working in Leeds and West Yorkshire, but would also welcome applications from those further afield who would be passionate about responding to and working with Ellie in the city

Applicants should note this position is subject to funding. (decision due mid-February 2013)
