The first Transform Festival was established at West Yorkshire Playhouse in 2011. Setting out to reimagine what theatre could look like and what it can do, these explosive annual programmes took place across the theatre building and outside its doors in a range of sites and spaces. Transform has now evolved as an independent organisation with a local and global outlook. Presenting high impact festivals of performance from Leeds and internationally, whilst concocting and developing projects with adventurous artists all year round, Transform will present theatre works everywhere from arts venues across Leeds to city sites and outdoor spaces. We want to celebrate the independent and innovative spirit of Leeds, creating festivals and events that reflect the socially conscious and radically spirited North, and which connect us to the world.
