For our first workshop as part of START (our professional development program) we are really pleased to offer a unique opportunity working with the Mozilla Foundation (the guys who amongst other things make the Firefox browser).

This special workshop (limited places only i’m afraid) will be all about using new tools to create content on the web.  Webmaker is the new platform made by Mozilla and due to be released later this year, and currently they are working alongside as many people as possible to ask: how and what would you like to create on the web?

This workshop will be specially geared towards artists and people such as yourselves who create content, visual, audio, performance, whatever and how you would like to be able to use the web to create, share and retell the things you do, focussing especially on using the internet in a ‘non-linear’ manner.

Largely a paper and pen based session, this workshop will be led by Mozilla and us and look at the specific needs of artists when it comes to online creation.  It will also be a great session to get you thinking and interrogating your design process in general what kind of content you could create online that goes beyond a website or social media.  It is a unique chance to have a say in the future shape of a major new product from Mozilla.

The session will run 1-4 at ODI in Leeds and will be followed by an informal Digital Artist Surgery where you can chat to Ben from Invisible Flock about any specific digital needs or questions in your practice for pointers and advice, as well as meet other artist interested in working in that way.

You can register your interest here.
